Web Wednesday, Dec 3rd – Tagboard

Social media can be a fantastic resource for gathering information. Its also much more engaging for the 21st century learner than traditional sources of info.  Combing through the various major social networks can be tedious though.  Tagboard is here to help.

With Tagboard, you simply enter the hashtag of the topic you would like to search for.  The site then scours Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Vine, Google +, and Flickr for posts containing that hashtag.  The results are displayed in an easy to read fashion, similar to what students are used to seeing with social media.  There is no sign up required to use this free tool so check out Tagboard today.

Another great way to use this tool is to curate all the posts for a hashtag. Start by creating a custom hashtag for your class.  Then, ask the students to include that hashtag on their posts.  Tagboard can then be used to display everyone’s posts to the whole class.  This idea is also great for conferences!  You have sign up for a free account to create your own custom Tagboard though.
